(More customer reviews)I live in an old house with plaster and lath walls. Fancy stud finders don't work on my walls, (I've tried $100 ones.) The little magnetic ones will find nails, but since a lot of people have lived in my house over the years, just finding a nail isn't enough: The person that put it there might not have found the stud to put the nail in in the first place, (they might have driven it through and covered it up.) So I bought 100 of these little things. I slide one along the wall until it sticks, leave it there, and repeat. After about 10-15, I start to see a pattern and I can tell where the studs are. I can then put in the nail/cut the hole/whatever and then collect up the magnets again without having to mark up the wall with a pencil.
